The Argus Imagery collective

Hi, I'm Jay. My three "lenses" - Memento Mei, Sirens, and Fuel.Foto - are a creative outlet that started when I was eight years old.

I've always had a fascination with the captured image. From creating collages on my bedroom wall with cutouts from my favorite car magazines, to thumbing through anthologies of Ansel Adams and other greats, meaningful images held my attention from a young age.

I used to travel with my Dad for work, and most times I'd buy a disposable camera to capture some memories from those days. A family friend eventually took notice of my fascination with cameras, and gave me an old camera to play around with; this camera (a Pentax K1000) stayed with me for a decade as hobby slowly morphed into passion.

This passion was further stoked by my Mom, who pushed and encouraged me to be bold with my photography and refine it. She and I both have similar perspectives for capturing unique images, and I would not be at this level without her influence in fostering my artistic outlet. My creativity shares a strange dichotomy with my desire to approach things in a logical, ordered fashion: the end result is three distinct "lenses" through which I apply the art of the capture.

Memento Mei, which is a Latin phrase meaning "remember me," is my outlet for humanity and the images that help us remember what words fail to convey. This is currently where I focus on engagement shoots, weddings, graduations, and other special moments that have a touch of the sublime and the surreal.

Sirens is my conduit for product showcasing, food photography, landscape, macro, and other themes that help me tell "the story of the world" and the locations, products, and people that make it all possible.

Fuel.Foto is my original passion, the marque that started it all and gave me the motivation to build my skills so I could capture the types of images I revered as a kid growing up. FuelFoto is focused on cars, motorcycles, and any other "vehicle with a vision."
